Derwent Water

Derwent Water is on the most Northerly Lakes in the Lake District.

Keswick is on the Northern shore of Derwent Water with the valley of Borrowdale at its southern end . The National Trust owns most of the shoreline & provides numerous walking trails for visitors.

Rare species of wildlife inhabit the environs of Derwentwater resulting in a Special Scientific Interest Site designation.

Derwentwater is fed by the high fells at the head of Borrowdale, and has a long historical and literary background. There are four islands which are best seen via motor launches plying their trade on the water.

Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite Lake were formerly a single lake until alluvial deposits separated them.
